What Is an SMATV System, and How Are Channels Distributed in Hotels and Residential Compounds?
SMATV (Satellite Master Antenna Television) is a central system used to receive and distribute TV channels to a large number of rooms or units through a central infrastructure, instead of installing a separate reception system for each room or apartment.
Signals are received by the central system, then processed and distributed over the project's network to the various TV points. This solution is widely used in hotels, serviced apartments, residential compounds, hospitals and other multi-unit projects.
The system design varies according to the number of units and required channels, the infrastructure and the signal distribution method. That is why signal levels, distances, distribution points and central equipment must be calculated to ensure the service reaches all points with suitable quality.
The main advantage of SMATV is its centralized system, easy management and less duplication of equipment within the project. When the infrastructure is designed correctly, a stable TV experience can be delivered to hundreds of points, with the system managed from a central location.
